Glasshoughton Bowling Club secured an impressive victory in a closely contested pairs match, winning 3 out of 4 games played. The match took place on a sunny afternoon, with the club’s supporters turning out in good numbers to cheer on the players.

In the first game, Paul Dickens and Susan Heptinstall put in a dominant performance, winning 21-12 against Amanda Roberts and David Taylor. The duo showed great skill and composure throughout the game, taking control early on and never letting their opponents back in.

The second game saw Ray Tennant and Ruth Lewis deliver another strong performance for Glasshoughton, winning 21-12 against David Beechan and an unnamed opponent. The pair demonstrated impressive teamwork and communication, consistently outmanoeuvring their opponents and taking advantage of every opportunity that came their way.

The third game proved to be the most closely contested of the match, with Colin Duxbury and Mick Mallinson managing to hold off a strong challenge from Pam Dukes and Keith Render to secure a hard-fought 21-18 victory. The game was characterized by some excellent shot-making and tactical play from both teams, with Glasshoughton ultimately prevailing thanks to their ability to stay focused and maintain their composure under pressure.

The final game saw Shirley Chapple and Tommy Siddall face off against Carol Foulds and Jan McLeod, with the latter pair emerging victorious with a 21-10 score line. Despite the loss, Chapple and Siddall put in a spirited performance and gave their opponents a good run for their money, showcasing some impressive shot-making and tactical nous throughout the game.
